Jane McGonigal
Award-winning alternate reality game designer Jane McGonigal discovered the
ancient "Lost Sport" in San Francisco in 2008, while doing research for an
Olympics-themed ARG The Lost Ring (with AKQA). Her
previous projects include Cruel 2 B Kind (with Ian Bogost,
), World Without Oil (with Ken Eklund and ITVS), and
Tombstone Hold 'Em (with 42 Entertainment).
She currently creates massively multiplayer forecasting games for the
Institute for the Future in Palo Alto, which will be launching a new public
game called Superstruct in early fall 2008. Jane earned her PhD making and
studying games, and she created Avant Game in 2003 to
promote experimental game design for public places and everyday life. She
has been named one of the top 35 innovators changing the world through
technology (2006), one of the top 100 seminal figures in new media (2007),
and is widely believed to be the most shameless Werewolf liar in the world.
